Paw-sitively Great Ways to Celebrate Love Your Pet Day in Baltimore
February 15, 2021
Every day, our pets bring joy, snuggles and unconditional love into our lives. February 20 is Love Your Pet Day, a great opportunity to show your pet some love right back! It’s a purrrfect excuse to pamper your pet with a fun new toy, tasty treats, a special paw-dicure and—of course—belly rubs.
Liberty Loves Pets
Here at Liberty Harbor East, we understand how important your pets are to you. They’re a part of your family, so we offer amenities that make your life as a pet parent a little easier. Our pet park with dog agility and training equipment is the perfect place to spend some time together learning new tricks, or just soaking in some sunshine.
Paw-sitively Great Local Shops
If you’re looking to spoil your paw-tner with some new goodies, there are some great local shops that offer fantastic pet products and services right near your home at Liberty.
Jack and Sally
Your furbaby deserves a spa day—and Jack and Sally’s Mobile Pet Salon can bring the spa to you! If your pet tends to get a little nervous on car rides, this mobile pet spa is a great solution—they can come right to Liberty and save you the trip. Jack and Sally was founded by Sierra Zurn, who has trained at the Baltimore School of Dog Grooming and is a Certified Dog Groomer, but can also groom your feline friends. Now, as the founder of her very own salon, Sierra provides pets of any shape or size with a luxurious, customized grooming experience. Every groom includes a bath, hair cut, nail trimming and more. If your pet requires any extra services, such as a de-shedding treatment, de-matting or extra time to ensure a stress-free groom, she can do that too!
Howl
Howl also has a wide array of services available for your furry friend. If your dog is too big to bathe in your apartment (or you just want to avoid cleaning up that post-wet shake mess) we love their bathing stations for a DIY grooming experience. A station reservation includes everything you’ll need, like shampoo, towels and aprons. You can also shop their selection of high-quality, all-natural and ethically sourced foods and products at their storefront in Hampden. For safe social distancing, you can place an order ahead of time online for a scheduled pickup appointment.
The Dog Chef
Gourmet cuisine for dogs? Why not––our pets are worth it! Regular dog food is often full of fillers, artificial ingredients and other not so great ingredients. Chef Kevyn Matthews set out to break apart from the pack to create treats, dog food and even froyo with only the freshest, human-grade ingredients. His philosophy is simple: “If it’s not good enough for me to eat, I won’t feed it to my dog.” You can stop by the brick-and-mortar store located in Mount Vernon to pick up some special snacks for your pooch, and even grab a cup of coffee for yourself. We recommend the Sweet Potato Mini Cakes, a delightful cupcake-inspired treat made with organic sweet potato, honey and yogurt icing. Bone appetit!
Happy Dog Baltimore
Happy Dog Boutique Pet Care is a one-stop-shop for everything pet care. While their core service offering is dog grooming, they also offer regular dog walking and pet sitting, vet chauffeur appointment pickup services and photography sessions. Happy Dog can, well, help make you and your dog happy and is conveniently located just a half mile away from your home here at Liberty Harbor East. In fact, they are the only dog grooming service located in Fell’s Point. While you’re there, you will definitely want to check out their gorgeous boutique and browse their curated selection of holistic, natural products for pets.
Woofs and Wags Baltimore
If you’re leaving your apartment for a weekend trip, or just need some time to focus on work, your pet will love taking a vacation to Woofs and Wags Pet Lodge. Located in Brewer’s Hill, this pet lodge was founded by pet lovers with over 25 years of experience in the pet care industry. At Woofs and Wags, they seek to accommodate each pet’s unique needs and provide care with the understanding that your pet is your family. Your dog or cat’s stay will include an excellent dining experience, some time for R&R and vet support if needed. If your dog loves social time, they can join a doggie play group, or if they prefer to lounge alone, you can select a quiet glass front suite with super-cozy bedding. Plus, you can check out their “Puppy Pro-Shop” for some shopping!
Downtown Dog Resort
Downtown Dog Resort is another pet resort, located in South Baltimore. From doggie day care, to overnight boarding, or even training programs, they can help create a comfortable, fun experience for your pet pal. They have a spacious backyard that’s great for playtime, and cozy “Luxury Suites” for a taste of the truly pampered lifestyle. First-time dog daycare clients can even get a free half day of daycare!
