Classic Summer Nostalgia: Your Baltimore Itinerary
June 20, 2024The summer solstice will be here on June 20th. Make sure to carve time out of your busy schedule to get some sun and enjoy the summer while it’s here! In this post, we’re sharing some of our favorite ways to spend the season in Baltimore.
Summer Activities in Baltimore
Lean into summer nostalgia with some classic warm-weather activities.
One of the best parts of summer in Charm City is being on the water. The Water Taxi cruise is a convenient way to spend an evening on the water, and it departs nearby in Fells Point. They offer 2 trips, but we recommend the later slot for a chance at catching the sunset. Bring your coworkers, friends, and some beverages to enjoy.
You don’t have to leave Liberty for a luxurious day in the sun. Head to our pool deck for a few laps in the infinity pool followed by a lounge in the cabana. There’s nothing more relaxing than a poolside day right at home.
For dinner, head to Captain James, voted Best Crab House by Baltimore Magazine. Their steamed crabs paired with some Old Bay-doused Ocean Fries are the perfect classic summertime meal.
Despite its wintry name, the snowball is the ultimate warm-weather dessert. If you’re new to the city, you might not be familiar with this Baltimore-exclusive treat. A snowball is finely shaved ice flavored with syrup. It’s been the chosen summer treat of Baltimoreans since the 1800s — so keep the tradition alive and order from Crushed Velvet this year.
Another nostalgic summer activity is watching a movie under the stars. Catch an outdoor movie (for free!) at Flicks on the Hill, sponsored by AVAM. They have a new movie every Thursday in July, including Field of Dreams and The Princess and the Frog. Check out their site for the full schedule.
A classic summer wouldn’t be complete without some sports. Go see an Orioles game at Camden Yards, or play some volleyball at Baltimore Beach. Whichever you choose, don’t forget your sunscreen and plenty of water!
Last but not least, our final recommendation is a picnic at Fort McHenry. It’s the ideal setting for a picnic: plenty of grassy areas for you to spread out and a unique historic ambiance. Make your own food or grab takeout from your favorite local spot. Either way, it’s always nicer to eat outdoors.
Have a Great Summer!
Let’s make this summer special, Liberty residents. Let us know if you try any of these or have another favorite Baltimore summer activity to share. We’ll see you poolside!
