Oh My Gourdness, It’s Autumn: Where to Pick the Best Pumpkins

Happy Fall, Liberty residents!
To get into the fall spirit, we are encouraging residents to pick-their-own pumpkins for decorating, carving, painting, and/or baking. This is also a great opportunity to support local businesses and buy fresh, locally-grown produce. You could even go small and decorate your Bozzuto Ledge to spread fall cheer throughout the Liberty Harbor East community!
Here are some Maryland pumpkin patches and apple orchards to get you into the fall spirit.
Weber’s Farm & Cider Mill
2526 Proctor Lane, Parkville, MD 21234
Parkville’s Weber’s Farm has been a family-owned business and farm since 1908. The infamous Weber’s Cider Mill is the oldest mill in-use in Maryland. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, apple cider, fresh produce, baked goods, fudge, and other fresh fall goodies are available on their online store. You can place your order here for curbside pickup.
However, Weber’s Farm pumpkin patch is open. Guests need to purchase a general admission ticket to visit the Pumpkin Palace and Patch. To purchase $6/weekday and/or $8/weekend general admission tickets, click here. Remember to follow the COVID guidelines and pick the perfect pumpkin.
Besides pumpkin picking, we encourage residents to take a stroll down Pumpkinland Path. Weber’s Farm also offers apple picking and Barnyard Fun with the hillside slide, farm animals, and tire mountain.
Gaver Farm
5501 Detrick Road, Mount Airy, MD, 21771
Frederick’s Gaver Farm was established in 1978 by Michael Gaver. Since then, it’s been a family-owned and operated business. To visit the farm and market, tickets must be purchased in advance here.
The pick-your-own pumpkin patch is open from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Gaver’s Farm currently has over 12-acres of pumpkins, so you’re bound to find your perfect pumpkin match in this pumpkin patch! Hayrides to the patch are free, but check the hayride schedule in advance. Check out the site for more information on COVID-19 guidelines and prices.
Besides pumpkin picking, Gaver’s Farm is known for their Fall Fun Fest. Guests can navigate the corn maze, interact with farm animals, play around on barnyard attractions, and take cute photos.
Local Homestead Products
2425 Marston Road, New Windsor, MD 21776
New Windsor’s LHP began in 2011 as a small produce stand. Today, Local Homestead Products have extended to 100-acres of locally-grown produce. LHP is known for their $25 boxed produce bundles. Additionally, LHP is offering an Online Market here.
LHP has over 10-acres and 15 different kinds of pumpkins to choose from. To access the pumpkin patch, tickets can be purchased at the gate for $7; this fee includes the picked pumpkin Guests may take a hayride to the patch, or may walk and rent a handheld wagon. LHP is also known for having $5 pumpkins in the market.
Besides their Pumpkin Patch, Local Homestead Products is also known for their Corn Mazes.
Baugher’s Orchards and Farms
289 West Main Street, Westminster, MD 21158
Westminster’s Baugher’s Farm has been an operating orchard and business since 1904. Today, the 60-acre farm has extended to over 600-acres, making it the largest orchard in Maryland. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, baked goods, cider, fruit baskets, and more may be purchased for curbside pickup here.
Baugher’s annual Pick-Your-Own Pumpkins are available every weekend in October. Hayrides to the field are $3/person and pumpkins are $0.49/pound. Check their site for COVID guidelines and PYO policies.
Besides the Pumpkin Patch, Baugher’s is known for their apple picking and petting zoo.
Summer’s Farm
5620 Butterfly Lane, Frederick, MD 21703
Frederick’s Summer’s Farm began in 1934 as a dairy farm. In 1996, Teresa Summers began the fall festivities with agricultural experiences, corn mazes, and petting zoos. Years later, however, the farm has extended over 500-acres for orchards, fresh produce, and family fun.
Summer’s Farm is currently offering pick-your-own pumpkins. Admission is free and hayrides are available to the pumpkin fields. Current pumpkin varieties are Atlantic Giant, Big Moose, Full Moon, Hooligan, Lumina, World of Color, Gladiator, Gold Rush, Bumpkin, Fairytale, and Speckled Spawn.
Besides visiting their Pumpkin Patch, guests may get lost in their 2020 Corn Maze, enjoy a campfire, or have fun in one of their famous barnyard attractions.
Larriland Farm
2415 Woodbine Road, Woodbine, MD 21797
Woodbine’s Larriland Farm began as a pick-your-own operation in 1973. Larriland farm is still a family-owned business and operation, but they now focus on crop rotation to protect communities from disease and healthily control insects/pests.
Larriland’s Farm and Pick-Your-Own Pumpkin Patch is currently open. To access the thousands of pumpkins, guests may take a Saturday/Sunday Hayride to the field. Pumpkins are priced per pound and hayride tickets are available at the gate.
Larriland Farm is also offering pick-your-own apples and access to their Straw Maze.
