Calling All Caffeine Connoisseurs: It’s National Coffee Day
September 27, 2021Perk up, Liberty residents: it’s National Coffee Day! On Wednesday, September 29th, we celebrate the wonderful drink that is coffee. Did you know that coffee has been consumed since at least the 15th century? While our flavorful concoctions look a little different from those early grinds, it’s still helping us wake up, feel energized, and seize the day.
So, let’s honor the day with a celebratory cup of Joe! National Coffee Day is a great opportunity to try a new blend, add a fun flavor to your latte, or spend some time sitting in a cafe and enjoying the aromas and ambiance.
Baltimore Coffee Shops
To help you in your pursuit of the best cup of coffee in Baltimore, we’re sharing a list of some of our favorite local coffee shops.
Avely Farms - Harbor East
A high-quality cup of coffee can be attained just steps away from your apartment here at Liberty at Avely Farms. Inspired by a life-changing sip of coffee sourced from a small farm in Guatemala, the founder of Avely Farms now works directly with farmers around the world to bring the finest coffee to Baltimore. Bring home a bag of beans like their Guatemala Cimarron Asproguate bled with caramel, Mandarin orange, brown sugar, and milk chocolate notes.
Ceremony Coffee - Harbor Point
Ceremony Coffee is another beloved coffee spot within walking distance of Liberty. It’s certainly close enough to grab a coffee to-go, but you might want to stick around for a while to take in their beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows and beautiful views. And, the coffee is just as good as the interior design––try unique brews like their Cafe Dua, a Vietnamese-inspired beverage made with nitro cold brew and sweet coconut cream.
Daily Grind - Fells Point
Located in Fell’s Point, Daily Grind is an excellent pick for a National Coffee Day adventure. They serve a great selection of coffee beverages, from Americanos to (non-alcoholic) White Russians. If you’re a committed caffeine lover, go for the Jitter Machine, a mocha with up to 6 espresso shots. But beware, it’s not for the faint of heart! If you’d rather keep the jitters to a minimum and not drink coffee on an empty stomach, you can enjoy some cafe eats, like their delicious bagels.
Vagrant Coffee - Multiple Baltimore Locations
With elevated takes on classic brews, Vagrant Coffee is a great option for any true coffee connoisseur. Try a cappuccino made with a double shot of espresso, pulled with a 1-1.65 ratio, and balanced out with some steamed and foamed milk of your choice. Or, add a little spice to your life with their Honey Habanero Latte. You can also pick up a fresh smoothie or juice to pair your caffeine boost with a vitamin boost.
Atwaters - Multiple Baltimore Locations
Since 1999, Atwaters has been a Baltimore staple. They now have multiple locations around the city, each of which treats diners to mouth-watering brunch staples. We recommend pairing your cup of coffee with a classic stack of chocolate chip buttermilk pancakes. For the savory brunch crowd, the Grilled Ham & Cheddar Biscuit is a hit, made with housemade strawberry jam, cheddar cheese & North Country ham on a cheddar buttermilk biscuit.
OneDo - Canton
The name OneDo comes from the Korean translation of “coffee bean,” which is perfectly apropos for this Canton cafe that does coffee exceptionally well. Their coffee is roasted in-house for unbeatable freshness. Plus, they source their delicious assortment of baked goods from local Baltimore businesses. What’s not to love?
Order & Chaos - Federal Hill
Whether you prefer an orderly classic coffee or a chaotic flavorful cup, there’s surely something you’ll love on the menu at Order & Chaos in Federal Hill. We can all agree on one thing though: coffee is best paired with breakfast food! They serve breakfast all day, including a delicious Chicken n Waffle Sammy with Mike’s Hot Honey. For a festive fall treat, try the pecan pie latte made with blueberry and maple syrup.
Vent - Hampden
If you’re looking to try something new for National Coffee Day, try Vent’s Portuguese Iced Coffee made with club soda, cold brew concentrate, cardamom lemon syrup, and bitters. It’s the perfect refreshment for these lingering warm days of September. The cafe is located in Hampden, but they offer delivery and a coffee subscription service if you’d prefer to enjoy your coffee in your apartment home here at Liberty Harbor East. They have an impressive variety of beans from around the globe, available in 12oz and 5lb bags.
